About the Role

Youth Projects is seeking an enthusiastic & dynamic practitioner to join our dedicated multi-disciplinary team providing support services to adults presenting at The Living Room Primary Health Service. We are looking for people with experience in engaging and support adults who have a range of complex histories but see each person as an individual that needs some support.

The Client Engagement Officer positions is part time, 3 days a week. You are a responsible for connecting with existing and new service users at the Living Room to deliver high quality, high impact support to people accessing our drop-in services. The position will be critical to engaging service users in order to create linkages with our clinical services and assist to coordinate pathways out of homelessness.

Shifts are available Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm and Saturdays 12pm – 6pm.

Skills and experience

Experience and qualifications

  • Recognised Cert IV or Diploma qualifications in relevant AOD, community services and/or health related disciplines
  • We are looking for people with experience working alongside adults that are marginalised and complex (in particular people who inject drugs, people who are homeless and people with mental health issues) and a sound knowledge of the principles of client-centre support and harm minimisation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of homelessness, housing and health sectors (including mental health and AOD)

  • Wanting to grow, develop, and build a career with a progressive organisation.
  • Ability to build rapport in a semi-structured environment
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking assessment and successful supported referrals
