We are seeking an experienced Outreach Clinician to join our team in providing mental health support services to the Meekathara region in collaboration and partnership with local community.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the development of a high quality, intervention and intake response to young people local to the Meekatharra area.
  • Working closely with local young people, their families and community services, to engage, assess and coordinate care for local young people.
  • Providing high quality, culturally secure and safe therapeutic interventions and assist in the referral of young people to culturally appropriate programs and community agencies.
  • Participating in cultural and community awareness raising and education activities that promote early help seeking and intervention for mental health and substance use among young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Increase client access to services by providing care through a flexible outreach model of service, conducting sessions as and where appropriate and safe for both client and practitioner.
  • Promote Youth Focus services communicate regularly with, and build and maintain collaborative working relationships with health and welfare agencies and the general community.
  • Engage schools, local agencies, GPs, councils and tertiary health services in order to establish a local support network for young people accessing our service.

To be considered for this position, applicants will have:

  • Registration with AHPRA as either a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience of working in a tier 2/3 youth mental health environment.
  • Extensive experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and awareness of cultural protocols when consulting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Aboriginal culture and issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families.
  • Passion for working with young people.
  • Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and establish positive and constructive relationships with potential partners, community members and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate sessions, activities and group work, within challenging environments.

  • Thirteen weeks paid parental leave after twelve months of continuous service plus four weeks paid partner leave;
  • At the start of the third year of service, and additional one precent superannuation employer contribution which increases by one percent for every year of service, up to a maximum of three percent;
