Kids Helpline is Australia's only free and confidential, 24/7 online and phone counselling service for young people aged 5-25. Since 1991, Australia’s kids and young people have been turning to our professional, specialised counsellors, no matter who they are, where they live or what they want to talk about. Kids Helpline is a service of yourtown.

Online moderated peer to peer support is the new frontier for mental health because it responds to the changing habits of teens who are increasingly using social media to connect. My Circle creates a free, anonymous and private social networking space to support groups of young people aged 13-25 years who are experiencing similar problems, under the guidance of a qualified Moderator.

About the role:

As the Team Leader, you will lead the team of My Circle Moderators and assist with the development of platform upgrades, processes and moderation developments. You will have the opportunity to work flexible hours between 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. While full-time is preferred, all candidates are encouraged to apply.

Reporting to the Specialist Programs Manager, responsibilities include:

  • directly line manage and supervise the team of My Circle Moderators
  • offer assistance in real time through live monitoring and supporting Moderators to respond to risk or harm presentations and member engagement issues
  • provide debriefing, feedback and supervision to Moderators
  • evaluate practice in line with yourtown and Kids Helpline Frameworks, benchmarks and priorities
  • provide clinical moderating and operational training
  • coordinate and oversee the creation and delivery of content for My Circle

About you:

You will be passionate, driven, professional, and aligned with yourtown values & our mission. Being open, confident, and agile in learning new systems or responding to technological change is important.

The successful applicant will possess:

  • university degree level qualification in psychology, social work, counselling or equivalent, together with a minimum of three years’ practice experience with children and young people, including working with young people in therapeutic contexts
  • demonstrated capacity to effectively lead and manage a team whilst supporting the organisation to meet organisational and contractual priorities
  • high level of computer literacy and demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering digital mental health interventions
  • ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to establish and maintain professional relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders
