Team Leader - Intensive Family Preservation - North Richmond

yourtown

Based in an idyllic rural setting in North Richmond, San Miguel family residential service provides intensive, individualised support to vulnerable young parents and their children. San Miguel is a unique service that plays a critical role in keeping children safe and well and keeping young families together. Parents and children receive support from a multi-disciplinary team through a combination of on-site and community based interventions that ensure children are engaged in safe, developmentally appropriate activities and their parents are supported to set and pursue family and personal goals.

Our family preservation model is one of a kind in Australia, we have the ability to be creative in how we work with families, we exist to meet the complex needs of children living with significant risks and aim to transform the lives of young parents and children. For us it is about the children and families and not about the numbers.

As part of a well-resourced, expanding model, we have created two Team Leader (Intensive Family Preservation) positions. These positions are a part of a progressive leadership team and will support staff to deliver services that meet the individual needs of our families. In these hands on roles, you will have the opportunity to make connections with DCJ, health, police and other stakeholders. You will be able to have input into the program, bring your fresh ideas and help grow our unique service. You will work with high risk families and advocate for families to keep their children/have them restored.

These positions are an ideal opportunity for an experienced Case Worker to step into a leadership role, or you may already be an experienced Team Leader wanting to work in high end family preservation. You will have a strong case management background and experience working in child protection or an early intervention case work model. You will have demonstrated ability to assess and manage risk, solid understanding of trauma and traumatised behaviours and a good understanding of parenting. You will display a level of confidence with young people and a flexible and mature approach to work. You will be creative and collaborative by nature and will enjoy working through a different approach to each client and situation, and will thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same!

We have two Team Leader positions available. One Team Leader supports workers who are mostly working evening shifts so you will need to have flexibility in working hours up to 8pm at times. The other Team Leader supports mostly day workers. We do need both Team Leaders to have the flexibility to participate in back up on call, however in return, we offer a nurturing, family friendly environment and try to be as flexible as possible outside of that.
