your job your way is a yourtown initiative and is designed to assist long term unemployed young people to build their employability skills and assist them to gain sustainable employment. Focusing on young people aged 15 - 24 the program will deliver a suite of strategies designed to build on a young person's for workforce participation. The team work together to assist a small caseload of 25 young people and is a unique approach to working with a high needs young cohort.

The Pathways Coach will provide in-depth intensive case management to participants who present with complex and multiple barriers to employment, with the goal of achieving sustainable employment outcomes. As part of a dual support team, you will work collaboratively with the Employment Mentor and the young person to build upon employability skills, confidence and readiness to enter employment. This will involve the engagement, intake and assessment of clients and the development and implementation of strategies both pre and post placement, including mental health support, literacy and numeracy support, referrals as needed, one on one coaching and mentoring and group facilitation of workshops.

Successful applicants will have:

  • University level qualification in a relevant field (e.g Social Work) and three (3) years' experience in the engagement and case management of young people who experience high levels of disadvantage and a range a vocational and non-vocational challenges
  • Solid understanding of the wide range of issues that impact on long term unemployed young people, the barriers to employment (vocational and non-vocational) and proven ability to successfully implement suitable strategies to overcome these challenges
  • Demonstrated understanding of the underlying principles of a client-centred and strengths-based Case Management framework
  • High level written and verbal communication skills and administrative and computer skills
