Intensive Family Practitioner

The yourtown Early Childhood Development (ECD) Program is designed to deliver highly collaborative strategies to ensure vulnerable pre-school aged children reach physical, emotional and social developmental milestones, and transition to school successfully. The Program is aimed at providing appropriate interventions and referrals for pre-school aged children who are not meeting developmental milestones as a result of trauma.

About the role

Working in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, the Intensive Family Practitioner, provides assessment and support to parents/caregivers and their children to improve the child's development and wellbeing and support a successful transition to school. Your engagement strategy will be a combination of on site as well as outreach and in-reach services wherein you will undertake collaborative case work with participants, program staff and partner services.

For the right candidate, we will consider either full time or part time engagement.

About you

Empathy is second nature to you and your high approachability allows you to form positive relationships with vulnerable children and families. You have a pioneering spirit and love the challenge that being part of a program launch presents. A master multi-tasker, you juggle multiple priorities on the go and problem solve with ease.

In addition to this you also possess:

  • Bachelor level qualifications in Social, Community or Behavioural Sciences and at least 3 years' experience working with vulnerable and diverse families;
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation and government policy concerning disadvantaged families with children;
  • Solid knowledge of the range of issues impacting on families including culture and heritage.
