About the role

Do you want to a rewarding career making a difference to the lives of people with disability? Yooralla has multiple vacancies available to support children and adults with disability with day-to-day living activities, recreation, life skills and education in the community and in their homes. Support may be provided to groups or individuals.

Your role may involve:

  • Supporting people with disability to go out to their favourite activities in the community, perhaps shopping, going to the library, swimming lessons, festivals or community events.
  • Assisting with recreational activities such as camps, social groups and school holiday programs.
  • Supporting groups of people with disability to learn life skills at Yooralla Community Hubs, or one-on-one in their home. This can include assisting people to manage their money and bills, or to learn to travel independently.
  • Providing assistance with personal care (i.e. showering, bathing, toileting) in both the person’s home and the community, meal assistance and managing household activities, and
  • Manual handling, such as using lifts and hoists.

Working in disability support at Yooralla provides the opportunity to work with customers with varying support needs and from different backgrounds. You’ll enjoy flexible hours to accommodate your study or personal commitments.

In this role, you will support individuals to pursue their interests, develop new skills, achieve their goals and be valued as equal citizens in the community.

About you

If you are passionate about supporting customers to achieve their goals and live the life they choose, we would like to hear from you. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • The right attitude and willingness to learn
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record management
  • Initiative and self-motivation
  • A positive and professional approach
  • Current Certificate for First Aid (HLTAID003) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID001).

At least six months experience in a disability support role, relevant qualifications and a current Australian driver’s licence are desirable, but not essential.
