About the role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic HSE specialist or an experienced outdoor educational team member with a passion for Health & Safety to join the YMCA Victoria Health & Safety Team as a Senior Health, Safety and Environment Advisor engaging with our Camping and Youth Service sectors.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will work closely with operations, ensuring the organisation achieves successful results in health and safety management. You will support the delivery of the Safety Management System and other key HSE focuses, with a specific focus on training and assurance activities.

Work flexibly, blending your time working from home with regular days in the office (Box Hill or Carlton). You’ll also visits our sites around the state from time to time.

Key deliverables include:

  • Injury, incident and risk reduction
  • Promote a positive safety culture
  • Safety Management Systems implementation and auditing
  • HSE consultancy with internal stakeholders
  • Reporting and monitoring of HSE activities
  • Team development, training, coaching and mentoring

About you

Ideally, you will have knowledge in Workplace Health & Safety, and demonstrated experience in engaging and influencing stakeholders across all levels of the organisation. Experience in the camping, tourism, adventure activity industry would be an advantage.

Qualifications & Licences

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety (or related field)
  • Additional qualifications in training and auditing will be highly regarded
  • Licences such as working at height, confined space entry and emergency management will also be highly regarded
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence

All candidates will be required to undertake background and probity checks including Reference Checks, a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
