About State Office

You'll be part of a diverse team of shared services specialists who support all sectors across YMCA Victoria's operations. Our shared services teams include corporate services, risk, safety and quality, finance, business systems, people and culture, marketing, communications, sales and more.

Based out of YMCA Victoria's Head Office in vibrant Box Hill (although currently all working remotely), you'll visit or work from other sites and locations as appropriate.

Key Elements of the Role

As the Grants & Philanthropy Manager you will provide philanthropic leadership and management to YMCA Victoria.

Overseeing all aspects of philanthropic giving, you’ll be responsible for building a healthy and engaged donor and grant pipeline to support YMCA Victoria’s benevolent work. This includes;

  • The implementation and evaluation of YMCA Victoria’s Fundraising Strategy
  • Leading cross-organisation grant submissions
  • Fostering strong relationships with relevant trusts, bodies and foundations to support the organisations benevolent work.
  • Ensuring that benevolence compliance is met across all entities and structures within the YMCA Victoria Group (YMCA Victoria Inc. and subsidiaries).

The successful applicant will:

Philanthropic leadership and management

Lead the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of YMCA Victoria’s Fundraising strategy, including building awareness and in turn capacity and best practice within operational teams to bring the strategy to life and increase philanthropic revenue.

Oversee governance, procedures and compliance

Ensure benevolence compliance is met across all entities and structures within the YMCA Victoria Group (YMCA Victoria Inc. and subsidiaries) to both internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

Identify and coordinate appropriate grants and funding opportunities

Lead the development and implementation of plans/initiatives to increase philanthropic revenue, including the leadership/coordination of major grant submissions.

Develop and strengthen relationships

Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with key philanthropic trusts, foundations and other relevant funding bodies.

  • The ability to inspire others and contribute to the cause of an organisation
  • A high level of influencing skills and the ability to negotiate to achieve shared outcomes

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a related field at a senior level
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Proven experience in successful grant submissions
  • Financial management skills – the experience in financial projections, budget setting, and budget

  • Analytical and strategic thinker, with an innovative mindset
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation

Qualifications

Mandatory Pre-Requisite Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a related field at a senior level
  • Working with Children Check
  • Australian Children’s Foundation Online Safeguarding Children Certificate
  • Satisfactory National Criminal History Records Check, and International Police Records Check (if applicable)
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License

Highly Desirable Experience

  • Relevant qualification in philanthropy, fundraising or marketing
  • FIA Code Course highly desirable
  • Experience in utilising donor and grant management software
  • Proven experience in successful grant submissions

YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • A national criminal history check
  • An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas
  • Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws
  • ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
  • Two reference checks

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
