The YMCA operates a number of services including Child Care, health and fitness, education and training, outdoor education and camping, accommodation and hospitality along with benevolent activities including the YMCA Vocational School and the Schools' Breakfast program.

ABOUT US

The YMCA Vocational School is a Special Assistance School and offers courses assisting disengaged students in having a "Real Opportunity" to achieve their full potential through positive educational studies, activities and outcomes.

We are now recruiting for a permanent, full-time (38 hours per week) School Administrator to commence ASAP for our YMCA North Lakes School Campus. The successful candidate will also provide administrative support to the adjacent YMCA owned Community Centre - The Space.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Working as part of the YMCA Vocational School staff team, you will be responsible for the reception and administrative functions of the YMCA Vocational School and The Space.

You will be the face of the YMCA Vocational School. You will be required to communicate professionally and effectively with students, their parents/carers and all other YMCA Vocational School staff.

Administration responsibilities will include, however are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative assistance and executive support to the Business Services Manager, Head of School and Community Centre Manager;
  • Maintain accurate student files and office records, assist with data collection and WH&S tasks;
  • General reception duties, including answering enquires and scheduling meetings;
  • Basic accounting and reporting duties.

THE PERSON

The ideal applicant will be looking for a challenge, a strong interest in the development of the holistic person, a personal interest in health and fitness, spirituality, personal wellbeing, values and ongoing professional development.

In addition, you will be able to meet the following key selection criteria. Please address each of the key criteria in your cover letter.

  • Minimum education level of certificate III in Business or equivalent, coupled with experience in a similar role;
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to demonstrate a pro-active approach to supporting marginalised young people and their families;
  • Attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills including an ability to quickly respond to changing priorities;
  • Have the ability to work successfully in a small team;
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint);
  • Hold or be able to obtain a Positive Notice Blue Card.
  • Experience working in the education industry is an advantage.
