Yilka Heritage and Land Care are seeking expressions of interest for the position of Ranger Coordinator to work with the Yilka Rangers on Yilka Country in the Great Victoria Desert of Western Australia.
Yilka Heritage and Land Care is a non-for-profit organisation and a subsidiary of Yilka Talintji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC, the Prescribed Body Corporate of the Yilka people. Yilka HLC is responsible for the heritage and land management of Yilka Country which includes running Yilka’s Land Management and Ranger Program based out of Cosmo Newberry Aboriginal Community. Under the Ranger Program, Yilka Rangers undertake land management activities including fire, water, feral animal, threatened species and weed management; and sandalwood harvesting operations.
The Ranger Coordinator will work together with Yilka HLC staff, Yilka Rangers and stakeholders to ensure Yilka Country is managed and cared for consistent with the Yilka Land Management Plan and Yilka Sandalwood Management Plan. The role will be field based out of Cosmo Newberry Aboriginal Community; and the East Perth office when required (to be negotiated).

The ideal candidate would be based in Western Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions. Experience working with Indigenous people on country and a background in land management studies or work experience would be desired.
