About the job

Role location: Office base is Slacks Creek with outreach in Logan; greater Brisbane and Ipswich areas.
Role type: 12 month maximum term contract with the option of extension. We are open to negotiating the following working options:

  • Full-time with either a nine-day fortnight or one day off per month
  • Part-time – minimum of 60 hours per fortnight.

The role requires flexibility to undertake work in the evenings and on weekends when participating in community events. There is also scope for some of the work to be undertaken at home.

Pay range: $82,169 to $84,306 plus superannuation (pro rata if part-time) based on experience, with salary sacrificing available. YFS will ether reimburse for travel expenses or provide an organisational vehicle.

We are looking for a skilled, practical community educator with a strong understanding of energy literacy and money management who is passionate about working with vulnerable people to help them manage their money and energy better.

In this job, you’ll plan and deliver an effective community education program and coordinate meaningful community events.

You will:

  • Liaise with existing groups and community services to organise education sessions
  • Deliver energy literacy community information sessions that effectively target vulnerable individuals such as parents with young children; women escaping domestic violence; new arrivals to Australia; culturally and linguistically diverse people; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; and people moving into a house for the first time
  • Assist to coordinate YFS broader community education and events
  • Pursue opportunities to increase community awareness of energy and financial literacy (e.g. through social media).
