About Us

YCSS was established in 2006, initially offering residential care services for children and young people. In the wake of the report from the Queensland Child Protection Commission of Inquiry, ‘Taking Responsibility: A roadmap for Queensland Child Protection (2013), YCSS expanded its service to include intensive support for families with children and young people ‘at-risk of harm.’
The KKAT (Keeping Kids at Home) program was established in 2015 with a focus on family preservation and restoration. Specifically, KKAT aims to support, facilitate, and resource vulnerable families to safely continue caring for their children. KKAT also complete reunification work after children and young people have been living in out of home care and provide outreach support to children and young people who are self-placing and homeless. We work closely with the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs, however, accept referrals from other agencies within the child protection sector.
