Unison is a not for profit Organisation that provides a diverse range of housing services across Victoria and in Adelaide, including social housing, affordable housing, private rental, transitional housing and owner’s corporation services.

We provide affordable housing, and work to reduce disadvantage and social exclusion for people who have previously been homeless, by helping to create communities around them. Unison also assists over 3000 people each year who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

About the role

The Place Manager, Transitional Housing manages a Unison transitional housing portfolio with properties located in Western Melbourne. The main objectives of this role is to ensure Unison provides high quality, safe and sustainable housing and that Unison tenants are supported to sustain their housing, and maximise their participation in communities that thrive. This role reports to the Team Leader, Place Management.

Some of the main duties include:

  • Establish strong relationships with tenants and sustain a successful transitional housing tenancy.
  • Work in close collaboration with support agencies to facilitate timely intervention
  • Ensure that properties are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, appearance and amenity
  • Effectively manage rent for all properties in the portfolio
  • Ensure vacancy rates are within Unison and DHHS targets and communicate issues to the Team Leader

About you

To make this role a success, we are seeking a person with:

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences OR experience in the Housing or Real Estate sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of Residential Tenancies Act
  • Highly experienced in working effectively and sensitively with a broad range of clients, including those with high ad complex support needs and challenging behaviours
  • Ability to listen, understand and problem solve issues across a number of different platforms
  • Has a current full Victorian driver’s licence

On Offer

  • Ongoing, Full-time position
  • Primarily based at Footscray but may be required to travel
  • Annual remuneration package including benefits of NFP salary packaging and superannuation of $74,458 per annum
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% annual leave loading
  • Salary packaging of up to $15,900 tax free
  • Supportive working arrangements

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Police Check and a Working with Children Check.
