Yalari (meaning “child” in Birri Gubba) is a national not-for-profit organisation offering high quality secondary education scholarships at leading boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities. Since 2005, Yalari has provided scholarships to hundreds of children from 189 communities, along with a comprehensive student support and development program, and a post-school pathways program to ensure students have the best opportunity for success. In 2021, there are 217 students on scholarships in 20 partner schools around Australia and a growing alumnus of 400 future leaders.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Relationship Coordinator to join our Philanthropy and Fundraising Team.

This is a new role responsible working closely with the Fundraising Manager to engage, retain and increase the support from Yalari’s sponsors and corporate partners. These supporters include sponsors of student scholarships, pathways scholarships, student and alumni events and other corporate partners. The priorities for this role are:

  • To generate increased engagement and revenue from existing partners through their participation in additional Yalari activities, such as workplace giving, attendance at Yalari dinners, third party fundraising, volunteering etc.
  • To ensure relevant and timely communications are sent to sponsors and corporate partners, including student profiles and ad-hoc updates, newsletters, invitations to Yalari events and reports.
  • To monitor philanthropic grant opportunities, prepare and submit applications for all eligible grants.

You will have exceptional interpersonal communication skills and a manner which inspires supporters and helps them feel good about their giving.

And you’ll be a collaborative team player and a positive influence on team culture with a passion for achieving equality through education for Indigenous children.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Fundraising experience and successful track record in a similar position
  • Successful track record of achieving fundraising targets
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Outstanding negotiations skills
  • Commitment to philanthropy and best practice in fundraising and supporter experience
  • Superior time management, organisational and project management skills
  • Collaborative team player
