Carbon Farming/Certification Officer

xpand Foundation

About us

The xpand Foundation is a social enterprise committed to an inclusive society through the promotion of health and well-being and empowering communities. We create and support locally controlled enterprises that encourage social inclusion of disadvantaged people and deliver broad-based economic growth creating employment and income earning opportunities for low-income women and men leading to a lasting reduction in poverty.

The xpand Foundation in partnership with the Fundasaun Ho Musan Ida has been developing the WithOneSeed community-led agroforestry program in Timor-Leste since 2010. It provides support for local communities to build their capacity and ownership in addressing local environmental and economic challenges, whilst also contributing to the global challenge of climate change. The program provides subsistence farmers annual incentive payments from the sale of carbon credits into the international carbon market. This sustainable business model improves the resilience of rural communities to build local economies and make environments sustainable. It boosts economic participation in local communities, creates employment opportunities, and raises living standards to end poverty and hunger and improve infrastructure. WithOneSeed is the first social enterprise acting on climate change through community-led forestry in Timor-Leste.
