About Junubi Wyndham

Junubi Wyndham is a community support group, funded by the Office of Youth and auspiced by Wyndham Community & Education Centre Inc (Wyndham CEC).

Junubi Wyndham is managed and staffed by people from South Sudanese backgrounds and has a focus on building the capacity of individuals and community.

Junubi Wyndham’s work includes youth outreach, case management, financial support through family support packages, school holiday programs, family wellbeing programs and supporting community activities such as homework clubs, sports clubs and cultural activities.

Junubi Wyndham’s work is guided by community consultation and supported by a local reference group of 10 community members who meet monthly.

Auspice, Wyndham CEC is a not-for-profit organisation funded to deliver education and community programs and services to vulnerable young people and adults across western Melbourne. In particular, Wyndham CEC works closely with individuals from refugee backgrounds through its settlement services, community projects and English language programs.

About the Project Officer role

The Junubi Wyndham Project Officer (Communications) will coordinate and assist in the execution of marketing and promotion activities, content for a Junubi Wyndham website, event coordination and developing and maintain social media channels.

This is a three days per week part-term position reporting to the Junubi Wyndham Program Manager. The position is ongoing subject to funding.

Selection Criteria (applications must address all selection criteria)

The person for this position will have:

  • A demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written and multimedia content for distribution within tight time frames
  • Demonstrated experience in website content maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with the development and management of in-person and on-line events
  • High level oral and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent communication skills including experience engaging with diverse audiences, and in particular multi-cultural communities
  • Be able to work in a team oriented environment alongside both paid and volunteer workers
