About the role 

The position leads a multi-disciplinary team of six, and delivers WWF-Australia’s ambitions to stabilise climate change and halve the impacts of unsustainable food production in accordance with WWF-International's New Deal for Nature and People meta-goals and WWF-Australia's2019-2022 Strategic Plan across the Climate and Food priority areas. The role has a strong focus on developing robust evidence-based measurement and analysis of conservation impact, and ensures insights drive accountability, transparency, innovation, and agility across conservation programs. The position collaborates with major stakeholders across government, NGOs, corporations and the scientific community, as well as working closely with WWF’s Eminent Scientists and WWF Internationals’ Global Practices.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Advanced knowledge of sustainable food production principles & practices, climate conservation issues & experience in the application of climate adaptation & resilience interventions.
  • High-level skills & experience in strategic planning, impact monitoring, analysis & reporting, & policy analysis & planning
  • Advocacy experience & high-level negotiation skills with major stakeholders
  • Change orientation & change management experience including developing constructive workplace cultures, building staff capabilities, and leading & developing geographically dispersed, high-performance teams
  • An understanding of & experience in optimising content for multiple media channels & adaptively managing data insights to optimise supporter engagement, mobilisation, & income generation
  • Knowledge of global conservation issues, threats & practices
  • Highly developed communication, media, interpersonal, influencing & relationship skills
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environments
  • Understanding of risk management, & the legislative context within which NGOs operate
  • Senior level program/project & financial management skills & experience 

Ideally, you will have experience working across environmental conservation, poverty and livelihood issues in Australia & Asia-Pacific, with established networks across relevant major stakeholder groups. Knowledge of, and experience in WWF will be well considered.
