Reporting to the Manager, Program Development and Effectiveness Team, we are seeking a Youth Program Design and Evaluation Advisor to lead the development of the Australia First Nations Program Youth Technical Program drawing on our Education for Life technical approach, international and Australian project models and examples of best and innovative practice.

You will make an important contribution to the development of World Vision’s evidence base for our field programs in Australia through supporting the design, monitoring and evaluation of projects as well as supporting relevant grant and funding opportunities.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

• Working with project managers in the field to adapt WVA youth program models to local contexts working with First Nations young people,
• Providing technical support to develop adapted designs, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, tools and processes, and program resources,
• Support continuous improvement of projects through reflective practice, problem solving and regular reviews of projects design, monitoring and evaluation, and
• Training field staff in adapted project models, the use of monitoring tools, data collection and reporting on project progress and outcomes. 

This is an exciting and varied role. It combines desk and field-based work and regular collaboration with project teams in West Kimberley, Sydney, and the Hunter Valley (and to potential new locations depending on funding). In this role you will be expected to facilitate learning and development based on information arising from monitoring & evaluation activities with field staff to ensure projects continue to be as effective as possible in delivering outcomes in line with our mission.

Your skills and experience will include:

• Working with remote, regional and/or urban First Nations communities and/or other disadvantaged communities in a cross- cultural context
• Good understanding of Indigenous affairs in Australia
• Leading program design, monitoring and evaluation
• Technical expertise in youth development programming
• High level stakeholder relations and working in partnership
• Tertiary qualifications in Youth Development/Design Monitoring and Evaluation

What you need to know:

This role is a permanent position operating in a full-time capacity and can be based in our state office in Sydney or in our head office in Melbourne. Other locations may be possible depending on the candidate.

This role requires occasional travel for field-based activity with project teams in the West Kimberley region, Sydney, and the Hunter Valley. Other travel may be required domestically but will be negotiated depending on team requirements, program development and funding opportunities.

This is an Indigenous-identified position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander decent.
