Reporting to the Manager, Program Development and Effectiveness, we are seeking a Senior Business Development Advisor to lead all aspects of the Australia First Nations Program’s growth and business development strategies through:

• Building greater awareness of World Vision’s community development approach and technical expertise among institutional and non-institutional stakeholders
• Undertaking analysis of sectorial trends in policy, advocacy and program delivery to determine market opportunities for the Australia First Nations Program (AFNP)
• Providing leadership to and working closely with our Grants and Communications Advisor to lead the development of large grant submissions and tenders through a process consistent with the AFNP grant acquisition value chain
• Building collaborations between Government, non-Government stakeholders (including First Nations Organisations), World Vision’s Private Funding Team and the AFNP
• Developing long term relationships and strategies to support field teams and program managers with stakeholder engagement and the exploration of new funding opportunities
• Speaking and writing with confidence about our field programming and impart stories of impact collected from our field programs

Your main duties and responsibilities will:

• Significantly contribute to and lead the AFNP’s Business Development Strategy in line with the AFNP and WVA Strategy and Growth Plan
• Lead the execution of business cases, and large grant/ tender proposal development
• Develop and strengthen key relationships with major stakeholders to develop funding opportunities for the AFNP and ensure information on the impact, effectiveness and relevance of the AFNP programming is well understood by these stakeholders

Your skills and experience will include:

• Experience in working within a community development framework (relates to children, youth and their families)
• Significant experience in building productive relationships with Government and non-government agencies (particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations)
• Experience in leading teams to undertake the preparation of successful grant/tender submissions within a not-for-profit, social sector context or equivalent
• A track record of developing and winning government sector grants and contracts
• Knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, histories and political contexts
• Program/Business Development including the coordination of collateral for marketing/promotion purposes within a not-for-profit, social sector context or equivalent
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Tertiary level qualification in research, communications, public relations, business/program development or a related discipline

What you need to know

This role is a permanent position operating in a full-time capacity and can be based in our state office in Sydney or in our head office in Melbourne. Other locations may be possible depending on the candidate. This role requires occasional domestic travel.
