Reporting to the Head of Australian First Nations Program, we are seeking our Manager, Program Development & Effectiveness, to ensure that the development programs run by the Australia First Nations Program are aligned with and adhere to World Vision’s development and programming guidelines. The role is also responsible for ensuring government funding and support for partnership development.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic advice to staff across the program to ensure that appropriate development models, methodologies and best practice principles are central to the work the Australia First Nations Program does.
  • Technical advice to Australian First Nations Program projects to ensure quality programming, monitoring and evaluation:
    • Scan and conduct research into the development practices of other organisations in both an Australian and International context
    • Identify best practice development examples and contextualise them for World Vision Australia’s work within the Australian First Nations Program
    • Oversee assessment and design processes for project work in new regions
    • Review the quality of all Australian First Nations Program projects
  • Secure government funding and support partnership development across the program
  • Faith and Trauma-Informed/Healing Aware approaches are embedded in development principles and practice leadership and guidance to a team of technical experts
  • Leadership and guidance to a team of technical program managers and advisors

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Demonstrated success and experience in community development practice, in particular working in the Australian First Nations development sector and with remote Aboriginal communities
  • Team leadership, training and mentoring of staff
  • Conceptualising sustainable development models and approaches
  • Understanding of the cultural, political, economic and social issues affecting First Nations and other culturally and linguistically diverse groups
  • Understanding of key development cross-cutting themes including gender, environment, disability, safeguarding and peace-building
  • Tertiary degree in Social Science, Community Development, Health or related discipline or equivalent experience 

What you need to know

This role is a permanent contract operating in a full-time capacity. We will consider applicants based Australia wide subject to the person having the flexibility to travel as required to fulfil the requirements of the role.

This is an Indigenous-identified position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
