We are seeking a Manager, Child & Adult Safeguarding to join our team at World Vision Australia on a full time basis.

This role exists to ensure that World Vision Australia is a Child Safe organisation and fulfills its mission to protect the children and adult beneficiaries it serves. The role provides World Vision Australia with advice, training and implementation of the organisations Child & Adult Safeguarding Policy & Guidelines and works with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure that WVA meets its Child Protection and PSEAH legislative, regulatory and donor compliance and reporting requirements.

The Manager, Child & Adult Safeguarding provides subject matter expertise and manages the day to day activities of the Safeguarding team (1 direct report) for World Vision Australia through:

  • Policy Management, Monitoring, Implementation & Advice
  • Ensuring Compliance with Legislative, Regulatory and Donor Requirements
  • Building Capacity & Awareness
  • Managing Safeguarding Incidents & Reporting
  • Training & Communication

Who we are looking for…

We are looking for someone with a broad understanding of child & adult safeguarding in either an international NGO setting or child focused NFP environment who has experience in building a culture of safeguarding and achieving organisational compliance through policy advice, capacity building and training for a range of audiences.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills including proven experience of influencing decision makers at all levels to bring people on the journey when it comes to the awareness and implementation of safeguarding standards.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Excellent knowledge of child and adult safeguarding issues, best practice and regulatory frameworks
  • The ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to gain buy in and raise awareness of Safeguarding issues and initiatives.
  • Ability to analyse issues from different perspectives to draw sound inferences taking a fact and evidence-based approach.
  • The ability to design and deliver Safeguarding and Child Safe Organisation training for a range of staff teams across business and region to build capability.
  • Sound experience in regulatory compliance, incident reporting and case management
  • Excellent report writing ability and able to respond to compliance reports from regulators and donors (ACFID, DFAT, ANCP)
  • Calm, considered and pragmatic approach to identifying risks and developing workplans to address issues and improve safeguarding capability across the organisation.
  • Direct or in-direct people leadership experience, able to coach and develop others.
