Reporting to the Impact Evidence Building Manager, we are seeking an Evidence Building Advisor - Monitoring & Evaluation to ensure that priority projects are designed, managed and evaluated to enable World Vision Australia (WVA) to provide a credible account of change to institutional supporters, private funders and other supporter groups in alignment with the WVA Strategy.

The role specifically supports the strengthening of a robust evidence base through a consistent measurement approach in designs, baselines, monitoring and evaluation.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Actively contribute to the design and implementation of WVA’s Evidence Building Agenda and Framework that strengthens the evidence base of our project models.
  • Drive consistency of approach in designs, baselines, monitoring and evaluation in relation to priority projects and technical programmes (TPs) at a meta (portfolio) level to enable reporting impact at scale.
  • Develop guidance materials/tools and lead capacity-building activities to improve the evidence building capability of WVA and partner Field Office staff.
  • Lead meta-analysis/meta-reviews of evidence of impact for WVA’s priority projects and programs, including key program approaches/models, and develop evidence products for internal and external audiences.
  • Work with the Field, Marketing, Private Funding and other teams across the organisation to simplify complex evaluation reports into usable evidence products that provide a translated account of evidence to all supporter segments beyond the narrow segment of institutional donors.   
  • Support campaigns, products, initiatives and acquisition activity emerging out of the WVA Corporate Strategy and Impact Goals with insights to enable WVA to demonstrate a credible account of change.
  • Contribute and participate in broader evidence building and learning initiatives within WVA and WVI to support the WV Global Evidence Agenda.
  • Regularly engage and present to WVA, WVI and donors about WVA’s monitoring & evaluation approach and demonstrating the impact that WVA projects deliver

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Understanding of the international development context and issues including Australian market needs and demand for greater evidence of impact.
  • Strong monitoring and evaluation (M&E) experience using quantitative and qualitative evaluation & research methodologies.
  • Experience in commissioning and conducting meta-analyses or other statistical analysis or systematic reviews strongly preferred.
  • Experience working across a number of sectors e.g., economic development, rural livelihoods, fragility, peacebuilding, resilience and climate adaptation
  • Proven ability to connect sectoral issues and programmatic approaches and capability to look at evidence at a portfolio level to report impact at scale.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as International Development, Evaluation or similar. Higher degree (Masters or above) strongly preferred. 

What you need to know

This role is a permanent position operating in a full-time capacity and will be based in our office in Burwood East, Melbourne.

Occasional (20-40%) domestic and international travel when the border will be reopened.
