Fundraising Ambassador (Volunteer)

Working Women's Centre SA Inc.

ABOUT WWC

The Working Women’s Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that provides free legal advice, information and representation to vulnerable, non-unionised workers about their rights at work. We predominately service women and we are experts in gender based workplace issues.

The Working Women’s Centre is made up of three arms:

  • Industrial/Legal support – we provide advice and representation to vulnerable workers who contact the Centre with work issues through 1:1 clinic appointments

  • Advocacy – we conduct advocacy to resolve systemic issues that affect women and other vulnerable workers, such as sexual harassment and precarious work

  • Education – we provide fee-for-service and free training for workers and employers about workplace rights, sexual harassment, responding to disclosures of domestic violence and other topics

WHY ARE WE FUNDRAISING

The Working Women’s Centre SA currently has secure core funding from the state and federal governments, but it is not guaranteed that this will always be the case. We need to use this period of relative funding security as an opportunity to diversify our funding for long-term sustainability.

Fundraising will make the Working Women’s Centre stronger because:

  • It will mean our organisation can survive even if we are defunded by governments in the future

  • It will provide us with the resources we need so that our service reaches more people

  • It will make us less reliant on government funding and improve our independence

  • It will allow us to do work that is driven by our goals and values, rather than those of large funders
