Rural Workforce Agency Northern Territory (RWA NT) are partnering with Women's Safety Services of Central Australia (WoSSCA) to find a Senior Case Worker to join there dedicated Alice Springs team. WoSSCA is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation that is committed to assisting and enabling women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. The Senior Case Worker provides responsive case work support to women and their children experiencing domestic and family violence.

This position is based in Alice Springs which is located halfway between Darwin and Adelaide. It is the second largest town in the Territory with more than 25,000 people calling it home and has all the amenities one needs, with shopping malls, schools and recreational activities available. Alice is a city of arts and events and is the beating heart of Australia's red centre. It is also a great base for exploring the natural wonders of the NT's outback; including Uluru, Kings Canyon and Devils Marbles.

Key Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Provide support and information about Domestic and/or Family violence and ensure women are assisted to meet their safety and security needs.
  • Together with clients, develop safety and support plans to address women's immediate and longer -term support needs.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Team Leader and other team members to achieve best outcomes for women accessing WoSSCA services.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough written records including case notes, meeting and supervision notes, interagency communications.
  • Participate in staff meetings, skills development and training opportunities and performance appraisal activities as directed by the Team Leader.

Essential Criteria:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the below essential criteria:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, community services or a related discipline and demonstrated experience within the community services sector especially in the area of Domestic and Family violence.
  • Experience in working with women in crisis and understanding of crisis intervention and crisis decision making.
  • Sound understanding of theories and practice in areas of Gendered Violence, Strength Based approaches and Trauma Informed practice.
  • A working understanding of client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Demonstrated experience of working cross-culturally, with an understanding of cultural safety and its application in service delivery.
  • Understanding of issues affecting women and children in Central Australia such as homelessness, cultural and socio-economic differences, social and economic disadvantage
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, organize and plan to effectively manage a complex working environment.
