Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) is a proud Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the Ovens Murray region.
We are seeking a dedicated Local Justice Worker to join our team. In this role, you will walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are involved with or impacted by the justice system, providing culturally safe, trauma informed support to help them meet their legal obligations and strengthen connections to community, culture and wellbeing.
This is a meaningful opportunity to support individuals to reduce reoffending, navigate the justice system, and build stronger futures guided by culture, respect and self determination.
This is a dynamic, community focused position delivering culturally safe, trauma informed support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people involved with or impacted by the justice system.
As the Local Justice Worker, you will work within a strengths based, culturally led framework to support clients to meet their legal obligations, navigate the justice system, and reduce further involvement. You will build trust, promote accountability, and support positive pathways by connecting clients to services, culture, and community, contributing to improved wellbeing and safer outcomes.
You are compassionate, culturally aware and committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and colleagues, and demonstrate professionalism while maintaining strong boundaries in challenging environments. You are organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities, with strong written communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records. You are committed to continuous learning and professional development, and you work collaboratively while maintaining a strong focus on positive client outcomes.
