Word Travels is looking for you. You are an arts leader with a clear understanding of NFP boards. You have experience in fundraising and can bring new contacts to Word Travels. You have knowledge of indigenous culture and relationships with indigenous communities. You respect, explore, engage and attempt to understand a variety of cultures, languages and beliefs.

We need you to join our board and help us deliver projects to thousands of people in diverse communities with metro, regional and international partners.

You will contribute to a strong strategic plan and work alongside seven other inspiring leaders for a three year minimum term.

Word Travels is a not-for-profit arts organisation with DGR status. We create literary and literacy programs with festivals, companies, schools, libraries, and cultural institutions around Australia and the Asia Pacific. We identify and pursue opportunities for young people, people from culturally diverse backgrounds and marginalised communities to develop their skills, and to create and express themselves by performing their work. Our major programs include Australian Poetry Slam, APS Youth and Story Week.

We believe that spoken word artists, poets, hip-hop lyricists, storytellers and monologists can develop an industry equal to that of actors, musicians and writers.

We empower marginalised communities through programs that amplify diverse narratives. We do this with performances, videos, podcasts, albums and publications.

You will help us inspire people to tell their stories in creative ways.
