Remote / Work from Home
Woor-Dungin is a coalition of Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), philanthropic foundations and donors, and pro bono service providers working in partnership to enable Aboriginal organisations to access the resources and support they require, and to achieve self-determination.
We offer Aboriginal partner organisations help on their own terms to establish strong, evidence-based programs, source philanthropic funds and pro bono support, and strengthen their governance and management skills.
We offer philanthropic organisations and pro bono service providers the opportunity to engage effectively with Aboriginal partner organisations in a shared endeavour.
We work to tackle structural issues on a systemic level to reduce disadvantage, informed by our relationships with a broad range of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal stakeholders. Building respectful relationships between ACCOs and philanthropic organisations is a core focus of our work.
To support this work, we are seeking proposals to develop — in consultation with Aboriginal Elders and ACCOs in Victoria — cultural audit workshop materials for philanthropic organisations and on Woor-Dungin's draft self -assessment tool for philanthropic organisations.
The purpose of the workshops will be to challenge philanthropy to evaluate their current approach to building respectful relationships with Aboriginal people and communities. They will help identify and prioritise areas for improvement, including how to support self-determination.
The workshop materials are to build on existing Woor-Dungin work, including the draft guide, Walking Together: A Guide to Philanthropic Investment in Indigenous Organisations and Tool Kit for Good Practice. The consultant will collect and compile stakeholder feedback on this guide to assess its value as a framework for the workshops.
The consultant will also deliver a trial workshop to a philanthropic organisation arranged by Woor-Dungin, supporting them to set actionable goals toward reconciliation. The workshop will be delivered in two or more parts to incorporate a follow-up process with the philanthropic organisation.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Any further workshops would be subject to a separate contract.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
This opportunity is open to individuals and organisations. It is a designated position for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Payment and timelines will be negotiated and incorporated into the contract. Woor-Dungin is open to suggestions on how the workshops should be structured. Face-to-face delivery is preferred; however, the workshops should be transferrable to online platforms.
A working group consisting of representatives from Woor-Dungin, ACCO and funders will meet with the consultant at key points of project: initial meeting to finalise approach and timeframe, provide background, contacts etc; second meeting to discuss draft workshop; and third meeting to approve finalised workshop, if required.
The consultant will provide finished documentation.
*COVID-19 has delayed the appointment of consultants to undertake this work and the holding of the Aboriginal On-Country Gathering. If it is not possible to present the draft workshop at an On-Country Gathering, an alternative opportunity for feedback will be arranged.
Woor-Dungin has $20,000 available from gifts provided by CAGES Foundation and Dusseldorp Forum for this work. Respondents are welcome to submit a proposal which does not satisfy this budget but which, in the opinion of the respondent, best meets Woor-Dungin’s objectives. Respondents are welcome to submit two proposals, one which satisfies the budget and one which does not.
