About the Role

You will provide high-quality legal advice, duty lawyer assistance and representation in complex family law matters, both parenting and property, and in child protection. You will be joining our legal and policy team in working collaboratively to address systemic issues in law and policy, including strategic casework.

This is fixed-term position for 12 months at full time or part time (0.8EFT minimum) - negotiable.

About You

You will have excellent knowledge of the law, casework, and court procedures relevant to the practice of family law (parenting and property) and/or in child protection.

You are a driven, motivated self-starter who has the ability to work autonomously to deliver results that exceed the client's expectations. You have high attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with people quickly.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key to your success is your:

  • Strong understanding of family law and/or child protection and intersecting jurisdictions
  • Exceptional knowledge in all aspects of casework
  • Confidence in appearance work
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Understanding of the gendered nature and impact of family violence

Qualifications and Experience

You will have:

  • A Bachelor of Laws Degree and be either admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in Victoria
  • A minimum of two years post admission experience in family law and/or child protection, in particular in litigation
