About Women’s Health West

Women’s Health West provides specialist family violence services to women and their children. We also run prevention programs that promote equity and justice for women and girls in Melbourne’s west.

Our work has actively contributed to improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of women and their children in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne since 1988.

Due to funding partnership with have four part-time fixed-term, six-month health outreach worker positions available to start immediately.

About the role

WHW’s partner, Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH) will be leading this project and a consortium of Victorian women’s health organisations. The purpose of the project is to conduct health promotion activities within migrant and refugee communities with a view to engaging women on health and wellbeing issues.

The health research worker will be required to:

  1. To attend professional development and training at the commencement of appointment, throughout the appointment, and participate in on-the-job training.
  2. To develop and implement plans to reach out to migrant and refugee communities with a view to engaging women on health and wellbeing issues.
  3. To conduct community engagement activities with migrant and refugee women
  4. To undertake publicity and promotional activities in a relevant community language
  5. To work with migrant and refugee women to assess their health information and education needs.
  6. To support health educators to conduct and record interviews with women.
  7. To work together with the Gen Vic communications officers to collate, edit and compile women’s interviews and provide support in the development of the final report.

Applicants will need to bilingual in any of the following languages:

  • Vietnamese
  • Punjabi
  • Mandarin
  • Hindu

All appointments are made subject to the candidate providing a current satisfactory National Police Certificate conducted by the Victoria Police and working with children check.
