Women’s Health West provides specialist family violence services to women and their children. We also run prevention programs that promote equity and justice for women and girls in Melbourne’s west.

Our work has actively contributed to improving the health, safety and wellbeing of women and their children in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne since 1988.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Outreach case management program is currently recruiting for a social work graduate (or graduates in a related field).

The Outreach program at WHW has a team of case managers who work with women and children who are either experiencing an immediate family violence crisis or whose safety is at risk as a result of family violence. WHW case managers work with women to develop safety strategies and case plans that include housing, legal, health and other assistance to support their long-term safety.

The family violence case manager- Outreach is responsible for providing client-focused case management support to women experiencing family violence in the western metropolitan region. The program aims to help women break the cycle of violence and achieve sustainable and safe outcomes for themselves and their children.

The position is available on a 12-month fixed-term, part-time (0.9 FTE) basis and reports to Team Leader- Outreach. The role is paid at WHW Enterprise Agreement Level 4, pay point 1 (ranges from 74K to 79K per annum pro rata EFT) + 10% superannuation.

ABOUT THE 2022 GRADUATE PROGRAM

This role is part of the 2022 Family Violence and Sexual Assault Graduate Program. The Program provides a dedicated pathway for new and recent graduates into the family violence, sexual assault and primary prevention sectors, supporting graduates to gain practical skills and knowledge while also receiving additional training and development support.

In addition to state-wide learning and networking opportunities, graduates are supported by a dedicated Learning and Development Facilitator and have access to learning and development opportunities with other graduates throughout the year. This includes an induction session at the commencement of the Program and monthly community of practice sessions. Graduates also have access to a funding allocation to support their ongoing learning and development over a 12-month period.

To meet the eligibility requirements for the 2022 Family Violence and Sexual Assault Graduate Program, graduates must have completed all course requirements (or will do so before commencing in the Program) or have completed their qualifications within the last two years.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work or related field.
  • Specialist family violence knowledge and skills is highly desirable.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the social and gendered context of family violence and the impact of violence on women and children.
