Womens Health & Family Services (WHFS) specialises in women’s health issues and family support, providing medical, counselling, alcohol and other drug, mental health, domestic violence, and other health and well-being programs for women and their families. The services Womens Health & Family Services provide are open to all Western Australian women and their families, with consideration made for the unique needs of Aboriginal, migrant and refugee families.

WHFS has been successfully delivering the Parents Next programme in the Perth North Metro area for the last 18 months. Parents Next is a pre-employment program that assists parents with young children to identify their education and employment goals, develop a pathway to achieve their goals and link them to activities and services within their local community. 

WHFS delivers the programme in a number of satellite offices in Perth North and are seeking a motivated person to work full time as a Career Advocate for 5 days per week at a number of these sites. The position offers a salary of $69,478 with a supportive team environment, attractive salary sacrificing entitlements and superannuation in a dynamic, forward thinking organisation.

The successful applicant for this position must have experience in, or possess the following essential criteria attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in career counselling or health or social sciences or relevant experience in career counselling, education, training and employment, or working towards these qualifications;
  • Experience or passion for case management and parenting advocacy;
  • An understanding of the barriers faced by Parents who are returning to work;
  • Knowledge of the local labour market, parent support groups and local stakeholders;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write grammatically correct resumes, job applications and selection criteria;
  • Good knowledge and past experience in the administration of the ESS computer database and proficiency in Microsoft applications;
  • Ability to use initiative, problem solve and work independently and autonomously on outreach sites, as well being able to work effectively and contribute in a team environment;
  • National Police clearance;
  • Working with Children Check.

Desirable:

  • Experience with providing training to groups and one on one Job Search Skills and Employability Skills training.
