Womens Health & Family Services specialises in women’s health issues, providing medical, counselling, drug and alcohol support, domestic violence, mental health and other health services for women and their families. The programs and services at Womens Health & Family Services are open to all West Australian women and their families, with consideration made for the unique needs of Aboriginal, migrant and refugee families.

Womens Health & Family Services is seeking a suitably qualified Family Support Worker for the Aboriginal Family Support Program (AFSP) to be based in Northbridge and Joondalup with outreach locations as required and is available for immediate start.

This position is Part Time for 3 days per week, with an hourly rate starting from $35.63 to $38.34, dependent on experience, with superannuation and has attractive salary sacrifice entitlements as well working within a dynamic family friendly organisation.

This position is responsible to the Aboriginal Client Services Manager. Responsibilities will be to deliver a service targeting at risk Aboriginal women and their families, providing family support which may include one to one individual, couples, family outreach and group approaches as well as providing support and advocacy to target group(s).

The successful applicant will:

  • Be Aboriginal
  • Have demonstrated ability to deliver services to the target group
  • Have experience in the development and delivery of education/training programs and/or workshops
  • Understand and have knowledge of the needs and issues relevant to the target group
  • Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals, groups and organisations
  • Have Knowledge of a wide range of community service providers especially those relevant to the target group
  • Have experience in the provision of support and advocacy to special needs groups

The following Selection Criteria applies and should be addressed when applying for this position:

  • Aboriginal meet 50 D exemption criteria
  • Relevant certificate or diploma such as community services, mental health, AOD or equivalent experience in field
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver services to the target group.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the needs and issues relevant to the target group
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals, groups and organisations
  • Knowledge of a wide range of community service providers especially those relevant to the target group
  • Experience in the provision of support and advocacy to special needs groups
  • Computer literacy including sound knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft applications, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • National Criminal Records Screening 
  • Working with Children Check.
  • C class license
