About the role

Womens Health & Family Services is seeking a suitably qualified Aboriginal Counsellor. This position will be based in Joondalup, Wanneroo and Northbridge, with outreach locations as required.

This position is for 4 days per week, with an hourly rate starting from $40.64 - $42.48, dependant on experience, with attractive salary sacrifice entitlements and superannuation in a dynamic family friendly organisation and is available for immediate start.

This position is responsible to the Aboriginal Client Services Manager. The role involves providing counselling support to at risk Aboriginal women and their families which may include individual, couples, family outreach and group approaches as well as development and delivery of education training programs and/or workshops with focus on culturally secure approaches.

It is desirable for applicants to meet the 50D Exemption requirement; however applications will be considered if applicants prove to have cultural competency and have experience working with Aboriginal communities.

Being Aboriginal is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement for this position under the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 - Section 50(d) Exemptions. This allows for the employment of Aboriginal persons with services for the purpose of promoting their welfare where those services can most effectively be provided by an Aboriginal person.
