ORGANISATIONAL ENVIRONMENT

Women’s Health Queensland Inc (whq) is a not for profit health and well-being counselling, promotion, information and education service for women and their families, and health professionals throughout Queensland.

whq service delivery is guided by a strategic and operational plan. We work with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders. We acknowledge that not everyone who may seek our services may identify as female.

As an Incorporated Association, the organisation is led by a Board who works in partnership with the staff to ensure that whq functions as an effective and dynamic organisation.

ABOUT THE JOB

This position provides post-crisis support and case management to vulnerable women who have experienced gender-based violence. This support may be provided face-to-face, via telephone or using virtual interfaces. The role will include delivering training and education to both the public and health professionals. The position supports the development, facilitation and delivery of projects and programs designed to enable whq to meet its strategic objectives and reach new audiences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

You will be accountable for working in collaboration with other staff to:

  • Provide client-centred trauma informed services to whq clients, through face-to-face, telephone and web-based delivery modalities. This will include people who have experienced domestic, sexual and other forms of gendered violence.
  • Provide appropriate referral services to whq clients, if another organisation can better meet the client’s needs.
  • Ensure currency of knowledge regarding best-practice principles.
  • Assess clients’ health needs to ensure appropriate counselling and support is provided to clients.
  • Meet all statutory obligations (such as mandatory reporters in cases of children and young people at risk)
  • Escalate identified issues and clinical risks through formal organisational channels.
  • Adherence to best-practice counselling and health promotion and education frameworks.
  • Identify and foster beneficial relationships with appropriate identified partners and groups to enhance, deliver and extend the services whq offer.
  • Build collaborative networks and partnerships to deliver services, including developing web-based and other digital resources.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation and revision for continuous quality improvement of whq service delivery projects and programs providing women’s health information, education, and building client capacity and self-resilience.
  • Understand and clearly communicate deliverables to partnership agencies to ensure objectives and standards are achieved.
  • Build capacity of local partners when required.
  • Lead / contribute to group and individual health and well-being information and education provision to whq clients and our partners.
  • Prepare / contribute to preparation of accurate and timely information for external reporting purposes including website analytics; social media analytics; CRM data (as relevant to your position).

  • Ability to commit to travel within Qld as required
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite applications.
  • Current Working with Children Check, Police Check or similar, or preparedness to obtain

ABOUT YOU – SELECTION CRITERIA

Please respond to the criteria below in no more than 3 A4 pages.

  • A relevant Bachelor or post graduate degree in Counselling Social work Community engagement and eligibility for registration Australian Association of Social workers (AASW) &/ with APHRA including three years minimum experience in your professional discipline with extensive experiencing supporting women who have experienced gendered violence (tele-health experience would be advantageous).
  • Evidence of relevant recent clinical experience working within a community health and or social services setting engaging with vulnerable client groups, including trauma-informed care.
  • High level skills in assessment, case planning and management, and working in partnership with families and local service networks.
  • A community–focussed professional with an understanding of community consultation and engagement including the capacity and willingness to participate in the provision of new programs as required.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, conducting and evaluating groups education sessions.
  • Experience and understanding of issues relating to service delivery that promote socially and culturally inclusive practices including a high level of knowledge of current clinical and social women’s health issues.
  • Understanding of federal and state-based legislation including child protection legislation relevant to service delivery.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by CALD, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities, and other vulnerable and or disadvantaged groups within the context of health and family wellbeing.
  • Capacity and willingness to participate in the provision of a rural/remote outreach service.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This Position Description provides the minimum requirements for the role. Extra duties may be required as requested by your direct line manager.

You may be required to work hours outside the normal work hours at varying locations. You will be compensated for any additional costs associated with working outside normal work hours in line with the SCHADS Award and National Employment Standards and whq Policies and Procedures.
