Established in 1979, Women Illawarra has been instrumental in campaigning for women's issues and establishing services in the Illawarra to suit the needs of women in health, housing and Family and Domestic Violence. Our vision is a world where all women feel safe, valued and respected and have a sense of belonging, and our mission is to empower women and children in the Illawarra.
Women Illawarra run community outreach programs, deliver services and support groups. These include Circle of Security, Positive Relationships and Young Women’s Forums and more. We have specialty workers in Family Advocacy Support Services and Domestic Violence Court Advocacy. We offer support to women on a range of issues and aim to empower women and children to lead their best lives.
Women Illawarra has recently set a new 5-year Strategic Plan and wish to grow the Board to assist in its implementation. We are in a strong financial position, and have recently rebranded the organisation, have a new website, an updated constitution and are in the process of applying to become a Public Benevolent Institution and becoming a Deductible Gift Recipient entity. Our aim is to become an employer of choice and continue to grow a strong culture of respect, integrity and collaboration in the workplace while empowering women in the Illawarra.
