About the opportunity

You will manage cases effectively for children and young people aged 0-18 in Kinship placements. This involves supporting them through daily challenges, fostering positive relationships, and engaging them in activities designed to build resilience and self-esteem.

You will work closely with kinship carers, birth parents, extended family members, and professionals to provide a secure and nurturing environment for the child's development. You will harness the capacity of extended family networks to ensure the best possible kinship care arrangements for the children and young people in your care.

Full-time or part-time 8 to 9 days per fortnight is also considered. Work weekdays, with flexible days and a start time between 8:30am and 9:30am.

In addition to the base salary and superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading and the ability to increase your take-home pay by accessing up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits, which can be used for living expenses such as rent, groceries, bills, clothing, streaming services, and much more.

About you

You are looking to join an organisation that truly supports vulnerable Victorians and Tasmanians to improve their lives.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Diploma of Community Welfare Work or related discipline (preferred)
  • Current driver’s license
  • Experience providing case management within complex family circumstances, where multiple service providers may be involved and/or complex family issues exist.
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of relevant intervention strategies and frameworks, including child and adolescent development, parent skill development, child abuse, alcohol and other drugs, family violence, crisis planning, ecological models, and family systems.
  • Experience supporting young people to grow and develop.
  • Experience in working with traumatised young people.
  • Knowledge of child protection issues in relation to children ‘at risk’.
