About the opportunity

The Stronger Families Program provides a therapeutic model of assessment and intervention for families where complex issues are present and Child Protection are actively involved. The program aims to prevent first-time placement of children and young people aged 0-17 years in out of home care. Family reunification support is also provided to families where an out of home care placement has occurred for the first time. 

As a Case Support Worker you will:

  • Assist case workers and leaders with case coordination
  • Support families to achieve their Family Action Plan goals
  • Facilitate and engage with children through play and interaction during family meetings, visits and Family Group Conferencing appointments
  • Provide transport for children and families to attend visits and appointments
  • Maintain accurate files, records and data in accordance with agency standards

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having or currently studying a tertiary qualification (diploma or higher) in Social Work, Youth Work or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Previous experience in a human services organisation delivering services to children, young people and families
  • Some understanding of the Best Interests Framework and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and build rapport with vulnerable children and their parents, while also maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
  • Proven ability to identify and assess risk for children, young people and families
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
