About the program

Wesley Dalmar supports in excess of 700 children and young people in care, as well as their birth families and foster carers. We offer adoption – permanent and temporary – and respite care, as well as a variety of supports to help children reach their potential or restore them to their families.

About the role

This is an exciting role leading Child Safety and Child Protection work across Wesley Dalmar and the wider Wesley Mission. The role will work with our diverse case management teams across all child-related portfolios to ensure that we are responsive to the safety of children and that we are meeting our reporting obligations to external stakeholders, in particular, the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

Essential criteria

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent related degree
  • Minimum three years’ experience in Out of Home Care and child protection
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations including planning, conducting interviews, debriefing and preparing reports
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence
  • Willingness to affirm Wesley Mission’s vision, mission and values and advocate our Word and deed ministry.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in leadership
  • Skills in capacity building and staff training
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and Children’s Guardian legislation
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office

Remuneration

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (Level 7) with generous salary packaging available and a fully maintained vehicle.
