About the role

Wesley Mission has a long and proud history as a premier out-of-home care provider in NSW. We have a number of exciting opportunities for energetic and passionate professionals across the Central Coast and Hunter area.

These positions offers a challenging and rewarding opportunities to work with children, birth parents and foster carers, as well as involvement in the recruitment, assessment and training of new carers.

Successful candidates must display demonstrated knowledge in:

  • Legislative requirements – Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998; Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012; Ombudsman Act 1974 (Amendment); the Adoption Act 2000 and other relevant legislation
  • The Charter of Rights for children and young people in care
  • Organisational processes and procedures (including records management, occupational health and safety practices, management of conflict of interest)
  • The impact of trauma, attachment dysfunction and grief and loss on children and young people.

And:

  • Willingness to affirm Wesley Mission’s vision, mission and values and enthusiastically advocate our Word and deed ministry
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised as well as an effective team player with a positive can-do attitude
  • Relate well to a range of people with sound listening and problem solving skills
  • Confident professional with strong initiative and business acumen
  • Displays emotional maturity and resilience.

Essential criteria

  • Degree in Social Sciences or related discipline. Diploma level qualifications can be considered where:
    • Case Manager has in excess of three years industry experience and
    • Enrolment in degree level course is maintained
  • Experience in managing internal and external stakeholders to achieve set objectives
  • Proven organisational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines and budgets
  • Demonstrable skills in conflict resolution, change management and financial management
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral skills, public speaking and presentation capabilities
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills; flexible, patient and ability to relate well to all the levels of society with which Wesley Mission interacts
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of therapeutic care frameworks.

Remuneration

Salary and conditions of employment are based on the SCHADS Award, Level 5, with generous salary packaging benefits. The agency provides regular supervision and support for all staff and opportunities for professional development.
