Our Client is an Indigenous not for profit organisation that provides leadership, advocacy and action to protect, conserve and enhance cultural and natural values of people and Country through cultural fire and land management practices. They value and respect country, local knowledge, protocols of Elders and ancestors and are committed to providing a supportive Indigenous led network that fosters a community of practice to maintain and share Cultural fire knowledge and practice on Country.

Our Client partners with diverse communities, landholders, agencies and institutions across the continent. Together our client is identifying pathways to apply cultural fire to landscape, to help heal and care for Country and empowering communities through mentorship and shared understandings that are improving fire management in Australia

They seek to embed into the Australian consciousness, cultural awareness and understanding of the knowledge and practice of fire held by Australia’s first peoples and subsequently the importance of cultural fire management to the Australian environment.

Our Client supports Indigenous communities and their partners in building skills and knowledge of cultural burning to increase its implementation across the landscape by Indigenous fire knowledge holders in contemporary fire management contexts. In this way, capacity is enabled and increased locally for Indigenous people to share knowledge and provide ongoing guidance with their local partners, agencies and land managers.

They support an Indigenous-led network of cultural fire knowledge holders and practitioners that together form a community of practice. Together with Indigenous communities, Their Directors and members are custodians of traditional knowledge of Country and the practice and use of fire to maintain healthy landscapes.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Shared Services Manager will be responsible for the Development & Delivery of Programmes, Promoting Indigenous Leadership and Mentoring, the Development and maintenance of external relationships with community practitioners, regulatory and government bodies, investors and donors, research institutions, community practitioners and the wider community. 

ABOUT YOU

The best fit for this role is somebody who:

  • Is Solutions-focussed and adopts a whole-of-systems approach to complex problems;
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in business, management or relevant
  • Has a minimum of five years’ experience in an executive management position in a natural resource management related operational role
  • Has experience with corporate governance, financial and operational
  • Has a sound knowledge of legal and financial accountability and reporting requirements including general finance and budgeting
  • Has demonstrated experience in a senior executive role that required responsibilities for strategic operational planning and strategy development, program and project development and implementation, risk management and financial and operational performance
  • Has demonstrated leadership ability including the development and successful implementation of program management strategies
  • Has demonstrated cultural competency and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Has demonstrated skills in the effective management of multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional work teams and experience in human resources and personnel management
  • Has demonstrated high level relationship management, negotiation, facilitation, engagement and negotiation skills
  • Has high level communication skills including the ability to understand new issues quickly and to communicate with people at different levels within Government, community, industry, media, partner and stakeholder groups
  • Has the ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate
  • Is able to manage staff remotely
  • Has demonstrated capacity to provide high level leadership to a culturally diverse workplace and plan and implement complex works programs and major projects
  • Has demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of our client, with a track record of working with communities and individuals to create positive impact

CORE DUTIES

You will collaborate & consult with the Senior Leadership Team on the following:

Compliance and Legal 

  • Responsible for undertaking and developing protocols to assist in meeting organisational and governance compliance
  • Ensure policies and procedures are in place to meet legal requirements
  • Ensure compliance around ORIC, membership communication and Board Member terms

Strategic Planning and Reporting 

  • Report regularly to the Board of Directors on key strategic issues
  • In consultation with the SLT develop and implement Board and operational policies and procedures
  • Provide regular reports to government bodies, granting agencies, internal and external stakeholders on organisational updates and initiatives

Finance & Administration Management

  • Development of budgets to support engagement and program delivery
  • Tracking and reporting on expenditure of program delivery budgets
  • Undertake monthly reconciliation of program delivery expenditure
  • Co-ordinate & Manage Bookkeeping & Accounting & Legal

WHS and Risk

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with WHS requirements under the WHS Act
  • Ensure practices are compliant with WHS requirements under the WHS Act
  • Ensure protocols are in place, and follow those protocols, in managing risks, hazards, incidents or illness
  • Ensure protocols are in place to manage incident risks

Human Resources 

  • Management of the HR function
  • Provide direction to the team and oversee the function

Marketing, Fundraising & Partnerships

  • Promote and manage online crowdfunding campaign, including regular communications and engagement with campaign donors
  • Manage and support relationships with large donors and third parties holding events/activities on Firestick’s behalf
  • Lead grant applications and other key opportunities for fundraising
  • Manage the relationship with associated stakeholders, including fundraising licenses, financial reconciliation and liaising with Board and staff
  • Support delivery of community fundraising workshops and events
  • Responsible for the delivery of marketing communication channels including media channels

IT and Systems

  • Develop best practice on IT systems and knowledge storage
  • Test and help implement new IT systems

TIME COMMITMENT

This is a full-time employment contract. To successfully fulfil their job requirements, the successful candidate will be sometimes required to travel within Australia and work outside normal work hours.

LOCATION

The role is remote, and is flexible within QLD, NSW or VIC.

REMUNERATION

Salary $120,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation, Phone & Internet Allowance and the company also offers Salary Sacrificing.
