The Wiri Yuwiburra Community Benefits Trust supports intergenerational change in the cultural, social, and economic circumstances of Wiri and Yuwiburra families plus the broader group of Birri Gubba People resident in the Project area around Mackay.

This role enables the Trust and grant recipients to create positive change in the lives of families and communities.

The Role

The Officer will work closely with Trustees to fulfil the purposes of the Trust.

The Trust promotes a philanthropic culture founded on authenticity, collective impact, and continuous learning. Hence the role will involve effective communication and organisational skills including monitoring, evaluation and learning about the developing community space in which the Trust operates.

This role will suit a skilled and motivated change-maker interested in the philanthropic or not-for-profit sector.

An appointee to this role will ideally be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Grants Management (AIGM).

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist in grant analysis and research.
  • Lead role in refining approaches to the Trust’s grants processes.
  • Improve and maintain grants database.
  • Preparation of grant agreements and other related documents.
  • Assist with the preparation and compilation of Trust papers, including preparing and presenting grant submissions and reports.
  • Conduct research into issues, organisations and projects and assist with due diligence.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated high level of integrity, ethics, and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work with and for Aboriginal grant recipients and the broader Aboriginal community.
  • Understanding of and/or interest in the philanthropic and not-for-profit sector.
  • High standard of verbal and written comprehension and communication.
  • Advanced IT skills including Microsoft applications, database, and website experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with the SmartyGrants system or similar.
  • Adherence to the Australian Institute of Grants Management Code of Practice for Professional Grantmakers is non-negotiable.
