WIRES is Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation and has been rescuing and caring for sick, injured and orphaned native animals for over 35 years. Our ongoing mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.

WIRES operate a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Office assisting wildlife and the community across Australia 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, providing rescue advice and assistance for over 130,000 animals annually as well as provide full-time mobile Wildlife Emergency Responders operating across Greater Sydney, South-East Queensland and Tasmania.

WIRES has actively been providing significant national support for hundreds of projects to assist with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation across Australia while also working nationally with major partners to support the long-term recovery of wildlife habitat and the long-term preservation of native species in the wild.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role works closely within WIRES Training Team to answer enquiries, process course enrolments, offer support to students progressing through species courses, and manage the coordination of species course workshops, to meet the demand for wildlife rehabilitators and industry professionals. You will need to be proactive, with exceptional customer service skills, able to work collaboratively and passionate about training people to help wildlife.

This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working with the team to coordinate the species course calendar to have the best possible coverage for all species
• Coordinating and scheduling of species courses with Species Teams, endorsed trainers and local WIRES branches
• Providing prompt, professional follow up to species course enquiries
• Processing and manage species related course enrolments for both face to face and online courses
• Updating training records after courses
• Coordinating the Reptile Handling Courses held annually between October-March
• Attending the Reptile Handling Courses (held in various locations throughout NSW and involves regional travel)
• Updating species manuals and other course materials, and assisting in internal reviews of new courses

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desirable)
• Experience with learning management systems such as Moodle (desirable)
• Interest, or experience, in native Australian reptiles (essential)
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or 1+ years in wildlife, environmental or conservation education
• Highly organised, reliable, efficient & detail orientated with excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated passion for training / education and a commitment to growing WIRES training presence
• Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
• Positive attitude & ability to work in a team and manage a wide range of stakeholders
