ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Highly respected not-for-profit organisation operating for over 35 years, dedicated to rescuing and caring for native animals. Our mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same.

Offering a 12-month, full-time contract with the potential for extension. Based in our Brookvale office, close to public transport.

There is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Trainer to join our team and provide ongoing training support for our Rescue Office/Call Centre team.

We receive over 180,000 calls annually, providing rescue advice and assistance for tens of thousands of native animals and we play a major role in national community wildlife education.

Our Rescue Office operates 24/7 providing urgent assistance for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife and some evening and weekend work may be required.

This position in our Rescue Office is dedicated to ensuring the best animal welfare outcomes for wildlife are achieved at all times. It is a support role, working closely with the Rescue Office Management to increase the efficiency of our team and improve our capacity to provide fast, professional, emergency rescue services.

Responsibilities include

  • Work with the WIRES Training Team and Rescue Office Manager to create consistent training programs for all rescue team members
  • Manage training for WIRES internal and external Rescue Office / Call Centre Teams
  • Deliver face to face induction training for all new team members
  • Monitor performance and provide ongoing support following induction training to ensure the best rescue service for wildlife is provided 24/7
  • Establish a training calendar inclusive of seasonal species advice throughout the year
  • Provide ongoing role specific training to continuously up skill team members
  • Assist in the development of wildlife rescue and education training materials for the team
  • Working closely with the broader team to ensure all priorities and deadlines are achieved
  • Ensure WHS requirements are observed by the team
  • Other projects as requested by management

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or 2+ years in wildlife or animal welfare (Essential)
  • Demonstrated passion for training/education/teaching and a commitment to improving outcomes for wildlife (Essential)
  • Teaching qualifications or Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (Desirable)
  • Strong MS office skills and experience working with different systems and databases
  • Ability to identify and adjust to different learner styles, assess for competency and provide additional learning support where necessary
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Highly organised, reliable, efficient & detail orientated with excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude & ability to work in a team and manage a wide range of stakeholders
