Who are we?

Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to men and women aged 50-plus who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness. We employ over 800 staff and operate from multiple offices across Melbourne, Hobart and regional Victoria. Our Head Office provides the strategic direction and support services for Wintringham’s residential, housing, community care and NDIS services.

Your new role

Due to organisation growth, an exciting new opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and tight-knit People & Culture Team as the Wellbeing, Workplace Health and Safety Officer at our Head Office in Flemington. You will work in conjunction with the OHS Coordinator to ensure the wellbeing, workplace health and safety of Wintringham employees and residents.

Your duties and responsibilities will also include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist to develop and implement Wintringham’s Wellbeing, Workplace Health & Safety Program
  • Assist with the implementation and oversight of the Wintringham OHS Program to ensure legislative and accreditation compliances
  • Consult and provide support to HSRs and Program/Site Managers under the direction of the OHS Coordinator
  • Ensure staff are aware of their OHS responsibilities including hazard identification, risk assessment and required documentation
  • Develop and maintain a general knowledge of Government programs for Housing and Aged Care Services including relevant Standards and Guidelines with an understanding of current directions and trends
  • Assist with the Wintringham Return to Work (RTW) Program under the direction of the OHS Coordinator
  • Deliver training packages relevant to OHS when required.

About you

You possess a relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety/Work Health and Safety or related discipline. Your time management, interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail will be supported by the following:

  • Previous experience in an OHS or similar position
  • Proven capability to provide practical solutions to health and safety issues and identify, assess and control workplace hazards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Victorian legislative standards and guidelines eg WorkSafe, Workers Compensation, Occupational Rehabilitation and Return to Work.
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare written reports when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and consult effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Administration skills to maintain policy documentation and quality assurance program information.
  • IT capability - Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
