Who are we?

Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to men and women aged 50-plus who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness. We employ over 800 staff and operate from multiple offices across Melbourne, Hobart and regional Victoria. Our Head Office provides the strategic direction and support services for Wintringham’s residential, housing, community care and NDIS services.

Your new role

Wintringham’s HR Team has recently undertaken a transformation and our newly named People & Culture Team will provide key operational and strategic human resources change management assistance and support. An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced individual to join our friendly and tight-knit People & Culture Team as the Senior People & Culture Business Partner at our Head Office in Flemington.

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you will lead + provide supervision to the People & Culture Business Partners, the People & Culture Officer and the Administration team in our new structure.

This role will see you develop and implement people strategies as well as provide P&C services such as people capability, coaching and mentoring, learning and development, leadership development, succession planning, performance development frameworks, reward and recognition program(s), workforce planning, employee relations, wellbeing, workplace health and safety and culture and engagement to your business unit(s).

Your duties and responsibilities will also include (but are not limited to):

  • Work closely with management to ensure the effective implementation of P&C policies, practices and procedures that provide an optimal working environment and promote a culture of excellence, performance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage employee relations matters for your business unit(s).
  • Assist with the disciplinary process of Wintringham for their business unit(s) and where necessary conduct, disciplinary meetings.
  • Lead the recruitment function for your business unit(s) - complete advertisements, conduct interviews, reference checks, applicant follow up, confirmation of employment and on-boarding.
  • Manage end to end HR duties for your respective client business unit(s) including management of parental leave applications, succession planning, absenteeism management, return to work and the management of accurate employee data.
  • Provide advice to managers on Wintringham EBA interpretation in consultation with P&C Manager.
  • Prepare all contract variations for their business unit that have changed employment conditions.
  • Team leadership and supervisory responsibility for two P&C Business Partners, P&C Officer and Administration.

About you

You are qualified (minimum undergraduate) Human Resources Management or related discipline. Your excellent emotional intelligence, interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail will be supported by the following:

  • Previous experience (ideally 3-4 years minimum) in the following HR functions:
    • change management
    • management of ER/IR issues
    • recruitment and selection / attraction and retention
    • workforce planning and development
    • performance management
    • remuneration, reward and recognition; and
    • conflict management
  • Demonstrated ability to provide timely and efficient services, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and pragmatically with a diverse range of people, from varying backgrounds.
  • Commitment to always maintaining strict confidentiality in relation to staff, clients and housing residents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
  • Well-developed IT skills - Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • A current Victorian driving licence
