Who are we?

Wintringham provides aged care services to those who are financially disadvantaged and have previously been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Located in Avondale Heights, Ron Conn Nursing Home provides high quality accommodation and care to 60 older men and women who require assistance with daily living and personal care.

Your new role

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Residential Site Manager with a passion for Aged Care and social justice to join our residential team at Ron Conn Nursing Home on a Full Time basis.

Reporting to the General Manager – Aged Care Services, this exciting and diverse role will oversee all operations of Ron Conn Nursing Home. You will promote a non-institutional philosophy of options, dignity and rights by recognising and promoting the rights of residents, encouraging residents to maintain and exercise control over decisions which affect their lives and provide residents with an environment that offers a variety of options to assist them to determine their own lifestyle.

Your duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring all service delivery is consistent with the policies and procedures of Wintringham, and meets the Standards for Aged Care Services and other statutory requirements.
  • To promote a non-institutional philosophy within the Home by:
    • recognising and promoting the rights of residents;
    • encouraging residents to maintain and exercise control over decisions which affect their lives;
    • providing residents with an environment that offers a variety of options to assist each resident to determine their own lifestyle and;
    • being a key support for residents complex behavioural needs
  • Ensuring that Wintringham’s duty of care to both residents and staff is met at all times.
  • Participating in management meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maximising the use of all resources available to the site ensuring that budgetary and Key Performance Targets are met.
  • Providing leadership to staff and to ensure staff have the necessary skills and expertise to provide a quality service to residents.
  • Providing effective financial management of the home.

About you

You are a proven leader with a successful record of accomplishment of aged care and staff management, as well as building and maintaining a vibrant and inclusive site culture. Your skills will be supported by the following:

  • Degree level qualification in social work, welfare, community development or health science related field
  • Previous management experience in Homelessness and or Aged Care sector
  • Extensive knowledge of the current approaches in working with clients who exhibit complex behaviours
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to leverage working relationships with colleagues and high level knowledge of clinical practices to build strong connections,
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with and empower employees within their roles
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth and State Government policies, standards and compliance requirements
  • Current drivers licence

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Police Records check & Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme (DWES) check. Refusal to consent to Wintringham providing your information to the DWES unit will prevent us from being able to continue with your application. Applicants who have lived in a country other than Australia for a period longer than 12 months in the last 10 years may be required to undergo an International Police Check.
