Who are we?

Wintringham is a not-for-profit organisation providing an extensive range of aged care, housing and related support services to men and women aged 50-plus who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness. We employ over 800 staff and operate from multiple offices across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

We are very excited to announce the expansion of our services into Tasmania and are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to be a part of our new venture. The launch of our community services is the first phase of establishing specialised services for vulnerable older Tasmanians, focusing on secure, stable housing with close and accessible supports at the ready.

Your new role

We are currently seeking proactive individuals to join our Tasmanian Housing and Homelessness Team as a Housing & Homelessness Support Worker. Reporting to the Housing & Homelessness Support Coordinator, you will work within the Housing Connect framework to provide a mix of light touch through to high intensity support for people who are homeless, and those who are already housed. You will be working collaboratively with the other support workers and teams to ensure a collaborative team culture is maintained.

Your responsibilities and duties will also include:

  • Managing a mixed case load of clients both residing in Wintringham managed housing, and currently experiencing homelessness.
  • Working with clients by linking and referring them into clinical services and social and recreational activities.
  • Ensuring clients obtain access to Aged Care and NDIS supports by providing referrals, service navigation and case management assistance.
  • Reviewing client file documentation across program areas to ensure the timely and accurate recording of information and monitor service delivery for quality.
  • Responding to client feedback and complaints in line with Wintringham policy and procedures.
  • Utilising relationships within sectors to assist access into other services and systems.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or experience working in the homelessness or relevant community services sector.
  • Experience as a support worker in homelessness or intensive case management services
  • Experience in working effectively and sensitively with a broad range of clients, including those with high support needs and challenging behaviours
  • An understanding of the Housing and Homelessness Service sector My Aged Care, NDIS and other relevant service systems.
  • Proven commitment to excellence, accountability and innovation in best practice service delivery in the fields of homelessness and housing support.
  • Well-developed communications skills and the ability to with engage people from varying backgrounds.
  • First Aid Certificate
  • A current licence
