Chief Executive - Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland

Windsor Group

Consummate communicator & passionate person to engage with issues confronting ethnic communities & provide proactive far-seeing responses to government.

  • Visionary communicator; Board friendly with proven business/financial acumen
  • Change manager/transformer (ideally) with multicultural experience
  • Near CBD offices. Attractive 6 figure package includes vehicle allowance

This peak body exists to look after the diverse and complex needs of its multicultural communities.

Its members are not only individuals but communities - many distinctive communities made up of people from diverse places and backgrounds. Each of these cultural communities is unique in itself, and extraordinarily different from any other.

These member communities have evolved in time around the large numbers of immigrants and refugees who have come, in successive waves, from around the globe – often over generations - to make their homes in Queensland, Australia.

Some groups have been settled here for decades; others are newly arrived. The commonality between these populations is vested in their ‘differentness’ as they honour distinctive ethnicities, languages, religion, social and cultural mores. So, a major part of this role is to skilfully lead and navigate around policies to bring all members into (what they consider) a better place.

As you’d appreciate, the issues involved are rewarding, complex, on-going, ever-changing and sometimes conflicting.

And therein lies the challenge of this wonderfully compelling, high-profile role.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a committed person to multiculturalism to pro-actively lead the thinking, action and interface with government and other stakeholders and successfully manage the wide range of multicultural community, health and aged care services and programs.

Enjoying the support of an engaged Board and a strong leadership team, you’ll draw decisively on your communications and change leadership skills to reinforce relationships with stakeholders at all levels to deliver benefits that are genuinely appreciated and valued. Giving the ethnic groups - so much a part of today’s Australian societal patchwork – a more effective voice.

Far-seeing, progressive and proven in business, your outstanding strength is a flair for bringing people together – even when their issues seem at odds. An active listener and influential individual, you have the aptitude and experience to listen, liaise and formulate active responses – particularly in relation to government – but also to members and the wider community.

Recognised as an exceptional leader and mentor, you are financially astute, commercially proven and skilled in quickly recognising funding (and other) opportunities. Committed to motivating and developing loyal and productive teams, you are well connected and comfortable collaborating with diverse people at every level, including government departments.
