Windermere’s Victim Assistance Program (VAP) supports victims of crime in Southern Metropolitan Melbourne and Gippsland areas. The VAP program provides client-focused case management services to assist individuals in the management and impact of crime, promote recovery and minimise secondary victimisation sometimes associated through involvement in the criminal justice systems.

About the role

Reporting to the VAP Program Coordinator of our Southern region, you will be the first point of contact for consumers who have experienced significant trauma due to an assault or crime. As the Intake / Consumer Response Officer, you will be responsible for intake, assessment and providing assistance to consumers navigating the Victims of Crime Services & Community & Health Services systems. Furthermore you will on-board new consumers in relation to their specific service requirements and provide support and advice of appropriate referral pathways. This is a full-time parental leave position until June 2020, with the possibility of extension.

This position is based at our head office in Narre Warren, however due to COVID-19 you will initially commence working remotely from home, with a possibility of a hybrid model of working.

About you

As well as your strong administration, intake and assessment skills, you will be tertiary qualified with demonstrated knowledge and understanding within the Community and Health sector. Your resilient yet compassionate approach to engage with consumers who have been impacted by crime, assault or trauma will be key to your success.
